Lullaby & Life

Lullaby & Life is a parent and baby choir that enables parents to sing together in a baby-friendly environment. Lullaby & Life is a welcoming, inclusive space for parents to connect with each other, their babies, and themselves through music. All parents, grandparents, and caregivers are welcome. Our rehearsals are designed for parents of babies, not toddlers, so we suggest an age cutoff of about 18 months but we leave that to each parent’s discretion- you know your baby best! We welcome pregnant participants to join us as well. Every voice is welcome; no singing experience is necessary.

Meet The Team

Laurah Merisier

Choir Director

Laurah is the product of the Florida Public School system and an example of what is possible when students are exposed to quality music education resources.

Laurah graduated from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Music in Music Education. Laurah earned a Master’s degree in Music Education from Florida State University in 2019. Her master’s thesis explored the ways in which the teaching of American patriotic music in our music classrooms shapes patriotism.

Since completing her masters degree, Laurah has been certified in early childhood music education from Kindermusik University and has served as the Director of Early Childhood Music with Vocal Youth Miami, formerly The Children’s Voice, a children’s community music education organization in South Miami-Dade county.

Laurah founded Miami Sound Space in 2019, beginning with the flagship program, Miami Sound Choir and in the fall of 2021, adopted the Men’s Choir program at the Everglades Correctional Institution.

Ruthie Lieban Levine

Lullaby & Life Co Founder

Ruthie is a new mother and a lifelong choir singer. She is a Miami-based psychotherapist at her practice RLL Therapy, and is also the founder of Stroll The Circle, a monthly community-building walk for new parents.

Singing has always been a constant in Ruthie’s life, from school choirs and a cappella groups to the University Chorus at UC Davis. After years without a place to sing outside of her one woman shower performances, she discovered Miami Sound Choir in 2022 and sang with them for five seasons, including all the way through 35 weeks of pregnancy.

After welcoming her first baby in January 2025 and spending many months singing lullabies at home, Ruthie began dreaming of a space where new parents could connect to themselves, to each other, and to their babies through song. Alongside friend and co-founder Laurah, they created Lullaby & Life, a parent and baby choir inspired by similar groups around the world. They are so excited to bring the magic of group singing to new parents and their babies in Miami by creating a warm, welcoming space for singing, connection, and community.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Lullaby & Life will meet once a month on Sundays from 1 to 3 PM.

  • We offer tiered, sliding-scale pricing per class. 

  • The first half hour we leave open for you and your baby to arrive, get settled, and meet Laurah and the other participants. Then, Laurah will lead you in some ice breakers, vocal warm ups, and learn a song with some simple harmonies. Throughout rehearsal, we encourage you to attend to your baby’s needs however you feel most comfortable.

  • Lullaby & Life is designed for parents of babies, so older children may not be entertained or stimulated enough by our rehearsals. If your older child is able to self-entertain, you’re welcome to bring them and they can do their own thing while we sing!

  • Yes of course! We learn new music each time, so while we’d love to have you join us every rehearsal, you will not miss anything if you can’t make it one month!
